“Yes, James, I know. Be home by ten. Gosh, do you know I’m twenty now? I’m fine. Just taking a break, at the Waterfront. Why are you so paranoid? I call you when I’m heading back, okay. Don’t worry, James, I’m a big girl, for crying out loud!” Alex finished her ‘what-you-could-call-sibling-argument’ with her, whom she had dubbed as of late: ‘seriously over-protective big brother’. Pressing the end call button on her cell phone, she flipped it shut and placed it back in her bag, taking the keys out of the ignition of her silver BMW sports car, and throwing them in there along with it.

With a suppressed sigh, Alex opened the car door and stepped out, locking it behind her. The Waterfront always calmed her down, let her unwind – lose herself in her thoughts, without the bothersome troubles of her, lately, hectic life. Checking her wristwatch for the time, she read nine past eight, as she ran her fingers through her blonde locks as she leant against the car, pushing her hand into the pockets of her black trench coat, that stopped just under her knees, and from there her legs were hidden by knee-length black boats. Underneath the coat; she wore a white skirt, with floral patterns, the stopped just above her knees and a matching blouse.

Why did I come here again? She pondered as she pushed off the car and began walking on the path, pausing abruptly for a moment, as she looked up to study the moon, half hidden by clouds. Letting a soft smile lighten up her features, she continued along the path until she came to her favorite bench, set just before the lake, looking even more spectacular under the moonlight. Setting her handbag down on the table, she sat down on the seat, sighing as she propped her elbow up on the table and rested her chin in her palm. Sinking in her thoughts, as she had done in the same manner many times before, she stared blindly into the distance.

I should really plan a get together with Lizzy and Kio, Alex thought as she continued to blindly study the atmosphere. We haven’t had one of those since Kio turned eighteen. With a sigh, Alex reached into her handbag. “Come to me Alex,” the unspoken words caused her to falter, bringing out an empty hand, instead of her cell phone as she had wished. Of course, she knew who it was, Zemetrios. The only person closer to her, other than James.

Elizabeth and Kiore, sure, they were her best girl friends, but she’d known Zemetrios for much, much longer. And not just a close friend, anymore, but an actual boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. They had known each other for ten years, and dated eight. James, hadn’t known until their third year of dating, actually, for Alex decided to introduce them out of the blue – James being off work and all, such a rare chance. Could you just imagine the reaction James had for his beloved little sister dating a vampire? In time, he came around of course, though still held that whole ‘I’m-her-big-brother-I-must-protect-her-thing’, which of course, caused him to get teased by Alex.

A smile graced her lips as she listened to his vocals, moving her gaze towards him. Watching, silent as he approached. A wave of peace, serenity and warmth came over her as he enveloped her in an embrace. Her eyes closed as he pressed his lips against her own, and pulled back far to soon for her liking, though, instead of leaning in for another she simply wrapped her arms around his neck, meeting his hypnotic orbs, with her own warm, soft hazel gaze. A smirk found it’s way to the corner of her mouth as she listened to his words. “Oh, Zem, you really do know how to flatter,” she replied in the same tone, the smirk turning into a smile as she leaned in and pressed soft lips against his own, lingering there for a moment before she pulled back, to the same distance as a moment ago.

His next words, though, sent the thoughts flying in her mind, over crowding the ever-crowded space. Forever. Vampire. Rule. Blood mate. Were the only words that seemed to catch her attention. Is that some form of a proposal of marriage? She pondered, as she light the ever present smile to brighten. It’s not like we would be rushing into it. I mean, eight years. Okay, breath Alex. Fighting off the urge to squeal and act like a teenage girl who just got her first kiss, for this was much bigger, Alex opted for another kiss. Yet this time, a bit more bolder in her actions, fingers running through his hair as she chuckled and broke the kiss, burying her face in the crook of his neck as she held him in a tight embrace, nodding her head, at a loss for words.
